This little venture began as a hobby for David and has grown into something much more!
It all started when an ancient log caught David’s attention deep underground at the quarry where he works. Bringing it home, he transformed it into a chopping board for a family friend, and from that moment, he was captivated.
His passion for creating unique pieces from interesting timber slabs led us to establish ‘Dad’s Designs’ in 2020, right from the confines of his garage in Ipswich, Queensland. With the support and encouragement of his daughters, his creativity flourished.
David began to explore new techniques and materials; constantly pushing the boundaries of his craft. As his repertoire expanded, we ventured into handmade markets across Brisbane, Ipswich and the Gold Coast areas, showcasing his handcrafted resin and timber pieces, evolving into ‘Designs by David G’.
Every piece made is a testament to David’s commitment to uniqueness and desire to create eco-friendly products. We endeavour to source as much of our timber locally and as sustainably as possible; often salvaging beautiful pieces that would otherwise go to waste. Our goal is to celebrate the beauty of wood, while ensuring that each creation is both a work of art and fully functional.
