SUSTAINABLY SOURCED TIMBER

It is our aspiration to solely utilise recycled and sustainably sourced timber, though unfortunately this is not always feasible. We prioritise the environment by sourcing a significant portion of our timber from local suppliers who stock recycled wood.

Our workshop actively scouts quality timber, and often receives special contributions from individuals within our personal network, which are meticulously stored and dried before use. We also salvage old timber furniture and fittings to minimise waste; particularly valuing materials like walnut, which is found in outdated and unwanted kitchen fixtures.

At Designs by David G, we are committed to repurposing every piece of timber we receive; ensuring nothing goes to waste. You have the assurance that all timber used in our products is of the highest quality.

Any product available on our website that is created from sustainably sourced timber is proudly marked with our green SUSTAINABLY SOURCED leaf symbol.

ABOUT OUR TIMBERS

We repurpose a diverse array of Australian native timbers and invasive species from reputable timber suppliers, as well as slavaging our own local wood. Here a just a few of the rare and beautiful Australian timbers we have the pleasure to work with.

Australia's Favourite Colour

AUSTRALIAN RED CEDAR

Australian Red Cedar stands as an iconic Australian species with a beautiful deep red colour and a distinctive cedar-like scent.

Sadly due to heavy logging it has became close to commercially extinct and is now a protected native species.

A TRADITIONAL GRAIN

QUEENSLAND SILKY OAK

Queensland Silky Oak is aptly named for its silky texture upon splitting, this rare timber has a striking pattern reminiscent of an English Oak.

This timber boasts hues ranging from light pinkish brown to darker orangish brown.

Tasmanian Treasure

HUON PINE

Huon Pine is Australia’s oldest species. This Tasmanian species displays hues ranging from light pale yellow to rich gold.

With only a fraction of its forests available today for timber salvaging, each piece is very unique.

Rare Collectors Piece

BUDGEROO

Budgeroo is a rare Australian hardwood which is no longer commercially available and is now a protected species.

It showcases exquisite grain patterns that make it a prized possession for collectors and timber enthusiasts alike.
